Who is José Jiménez?
José isn't just the sole producer of Inti Coffee; he's a living symbol of shared heritage and deep-rooted passion for the earth. My own connection to farming comes from my father, who dedicated his life to agriculture in the heart of Ecuador. He and José share a common origin in Nambacola, Loja, a beautiful and culture-rich region in the south of Ecuador. This connection resonates deeply with me, as meeting José was more than a partnership; it was finding a kindred spirit who embodies the same values and love for the land that my father instilled in me. José's expertise passed down through generations, mirrors the legacy of dedication and respect for farming that I grew up admiring.

A Day in the Life of a Coffee Farmer
Each day begins at dawn for José, with a devotion that extends far beyond the coffee plants. His family is the cornerstone of this daily rhythm. Bertha, his wife, is the unsung hero managing the farm's logistics. Her meticulous care in handling finances and ensuring everyone is well-compensated and cared for is pivotal. Their daughter, Taira, at 16, is already walking in her father's footsteps. Under José's guidance, she's learning the art and science of coffee cultivation, poised to continue the legacy. Together, they weave a story of dedication, unity, and love for the land. They are truly inspirational to us involved in other aspects of this beautiful labor of love called Inti Coffee.

The Jiménez family: Inti Coffee's Driving Force
Every year, the Jiménez are fiercely dedicated to advancing the quality of our harvest and the excellence of every cup produced. Their innovative and resourceful spirit is driving experimental advancements in sustainable farming techniques. Sustainability in farming, along with experimental drying and fermentation, stands at the forefront of Inti Coffee's objectives. This family united in our mission, is constantly dedicated to exploring new methods to ensure that every bean we produce is a testament to our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.

The Essence of Our Coffee: Altitude, Soil and Sustainable Practices
Nestled at an altitude of 1820 meters in the province of Loja, known globally for its mineral-rich soils perfect for producing specialty coffee, lies our cherished Hacienda La Ceiba. In this unique microclimate, at the gates of the Andes, every aspect of our farm's location, including the remarkable altitude, contributes to the coffee's distinct character. Here, José Jiménez, with his time-honored techniques, works in harmony with the environment. The perfect blend of climate, altitude, and rich soils of Loja allows us to cultivate coffee beans that are not only exceptional in sensorial quality but also rich in story and tradition. At Hacienda La Ceiba, every bean encapsulates the essence of this famed region, making every cup of Inti Coffee a testament to the land's extraordinary legacy.

The Symphony of Flavors: A Diverse Ecosystem
Walking through Hacienda La Ceiba is like immersing oneself in a natural orchestra of flavors and aromas. The diverse array of fruit trees that populate our farm does more than just offer shade; they play a crucial role in shaping the flavor profile of our coffee. The chirimoya, sapote, and papaya trees, alongside bananas, lemons, avocados, and more, infuse subtle notes into our beans. Each fruit contributes its unique essence, creating a harmonious blend that is reflective of the land's natural bounty. This symphony of flavors is what makes every cup of Inti Coffee an exquisite experience.

Beyond Organic: A Testament to Our Purpose
Our commitment at Hacienda La Ceiba transcends typical organic farming. José Jiménez's approach is a testament to true sustainability, where every element of nature is respected and nurtured. Our farming methods avoid synthetic pesticides, relying instead on a balanced ecosystem and natural remedies, like the use of beauveria. This holistic approach ensures that every bean is not only free from chemicals but also full of life. It's a practice that honors the earth, preserves biodiversity, and delivers a pure, unadulterated sensorial coffee experience.

From Our Family to Yours
As I reflect on the journey of Inti Coffee, each visit to Hacienda La Ceiba, and every heartfelt conversation with José, I am reminded of the profound connection we share with our coffee, our land, and our community. This isn't just about crafting exceptional coffee; it's about nurturing those precious moments of joy and togetherness that a great cup of coffee can bring. It's a toast to life's simple pleasures, to the bonds we forge, and to the planet we cherish.
