Our coffee is 100% certified organic. No pesticides are used in our coffee production. Our coffee plants are treated by José Jiménez with an old technique, using a special micro-organism called “beauveria” in a spray that naturally keeps away any harmful insects and does not compromise the quality or integrity of our coffee. The biodiversity of the different plants also acts as a natural pesticide.

Inti Coffee is named after the Incan Sun god. The Incas populated multiple modern-day countries in South America, including Ecuador, where the sun shines equally 365 days per year. In Ecuador, its natives were so awestruck by the sun, that they worshiped a Sun-God, Inti. 

We believe that coffee, in a way, is like the Sun that wakes us up every morning. It is essential to start our day. 

Our bags are home-compostable! Meaning they can break down in lower temperatures of compost heaps, as opposed to industrially compostable packaging, which needs to reach higher temperatures to be properly composted. 

After you are done with your delicious bag of Inti Coffee, just add it to your compost pile in your backyard and wait for it to break down into soil! (Time will vary depending on location, climate, temperatures of soil, etc.) 

If you don't have a backyard to compost in, you can look up your nearest compost hub, industrial composter, or hold onto your bag until we announce our bag take-back program! 🙂
